Kelowna General Hospital: The First 100
Years 1908-2008
Travel through
100 years of local history as told by an unusual source: Kelowna’s
medical pioneers.
Kelowna General Hospital planted its roots in 1908 in a wooden
structure near the lake. At 19 beds, it comfortably facilitated
Kelowna’s
600 residents. KGH now provides services to a region covering more
than 700,000 people in the Interior of British Columbia; it continues
to grow, with another major building project underway in 2008.
Historian Sharron Simpson celebrates 100 years of progress through
a well-researched and entertaining look at the people and projects
that have shaped Kelowna General Hospital.
