Jill
Veitch started her career in the early 1990s with an education
in applied communication and English. She worked for 12 years in
the radio industry, holding a variety of positions at four radio
stations (Victoria, Grande Prairie, Kelowna, Vancouver).
While Jill has been an announcer, news
reporter, producer, voice talent and traffic reporter, the bulk
of her work was performed in radio marketing and promotions. The
planning and execution of a one-year promotion leading up to the
Canada Winter Games in Grande Prairie in 1995 won her station a
national broadcast industry award for community service. She was
also instrumental in the introduction of the first FM radio station
into northern Alberta, involved in developing imaging for the new
station, and creating a public education program to encourage people
to switch to FM.
Jill further expanded her marketing
and promotions experience at the #1 radio stations in both Kelowna
and Vancouver prior to spending six months in Uganda, Africa, assisting
with the development of a radio station in that country's capital
city. While overseas, she wrote a program introducing computers
to first-time users, and delivered training to rural offices in
Uganda.
In 2001, upon returning from one year
abroad, Jill began working from home, finding her niche in publishing
and web design. This field encompasses all of her past professional
experience, and continues to provide challenges daily. Having produced
20+ titles in the past five years, Jill has learned many of the
publishing tips and tricks that can only be discovered through
first-hand experience. She continues to provide marketing support
and a variety of design services as requested.
